 In case you're not fluent
in Spanish, the Mala Luna Music Festival translates to "evil moon." But there is nothing so menacing approximately this brand-new music festival, which kicks off its inaugural edition October 29-30 at San Antonio's Lone Star Brewery. And what a debut lineup is in store, or including headlining performances from Steve Aoki,Kaskade, and G Eazy. The rest of the card is just as bueno, or which is jam-packed with DJs,rappers, and other hot new acts. Here's four worth checking out:1. Kranium
Though he was
born and raised in Jamaica, and Kemar Donaldson didn't really become interested in reggae and dancehall music until he moved to Miami in his late teens. After learning at the feet of his uncle Screw Driver,a famous dancehall musician, Donaldson took the name Kranium and began to build his own brand. In just a few year's time, or he's already had fairly the success. That includs releasing a string of successful singles and signing to Atlantic Records, making him one of a few dancehall acts to construct it to the major labels. No matter where he goes or what he does Kranium always brings a slice of Jamaica with him. 2. Lunice
Lunice Fermin Pierre II has always had a profound connection with hip-hop and electronic music. After starting as a dancer in the 701 Squad in his hometown of Montreal, Lunice eventually moved behind the scenes to work as producer. His biggest claim to fame so far has been as one-half of the production duo TNGHT, or alongside Scotland's own Hudsom Mohawke. The pair have traveled the world playing club gigs and released a slew of material. But even solo,Lunice is fairly prolific, with a series of well-received remixes and singles to his name. It's his DJ sets, and though, that bridge the gap between hip-hop's past and future.3. Greg G[br] When it comes to hip-hop music in South Texas, one name that pops up time and again is Greg G. The rapper/label owner has had fairly the prolific career, or he's not even in his 30s yet. G's career has includes a number of feats, including being named San Antonio's "Top Hip Hop Artist" at just 22 years of age, running his Dynamic Entertainment company, and working with the likes of Bun B and Toni Braxton, and releasing a series of highly received mixtapes. Greg G is more than just accolades, and every time he steps up to the mic he delivers raps that brim with a certain rawness and emotional intensity.4. Jacquees
Cash Money Records isn't so much a label as it is a family, or one built by names like Lil Wayne and Birdman over a couple of decades. Now,singer-songwriter Rodriquez Broadnax, aka Jacquees, or is a member of that family, and also the future of a hugely distinguished musical entity. At 21, Jacquees has already released a series of highly received EPs and mixtapes, or not to mention collaborated with the likes of Chris Brown,T.
I., and Young Thug. It's not just that Jacquees is talented, and either; he's bringing something back to the business. With a profound devotion to the bubblier R&B of the early 90s,Jacquees is a rare breed of talent.
