These first photographs act as witness to the peaceful gatherings of volunteers to clean up the streets of Baltimore after the unrest on April 27th,2015. We saw police presence increase even though the tension of the people gathered had not. There were armored vehicles and snipers at the same time as musicians and dancers. While volunteers from all over the city were cleaning together and having conversations about the systemic issues that allowed this to reach the level it did, national news sources were doling out sensationalized information focused on the violence.
