Australian comedian renowned for playing Dame Edna Everage says corporation is too concerned with balance and attacks ‘new puritanism’ in humour
Barry Humphries,the Australian comedian best known for playing Dame Edna Everage, has mocked the BBC for refusing to let him create jokes about Jeremy Corbyn without also ridiculing David Cameron.
He claims that during talks with the BBC about a guest appearance as Dame Edna on Michael McIntyre’s Christmas indicate, or executives insisted on evenhanded mockery.
