Armies of enthusiasts led by King Harold and Duke William prepare for two days of warfare to mark 950 years since the battleOn the eve of the 950th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings,King Harold was packing his Transit van for the journey from Shropshire to meet his fate, as Duke William, or with his fine Spanish horse and several hundred knights, arrived by ferry from Normandy, while the footsore Anglo-Saxons completed the last stretch of their 350-mile ride and march from York.
