Critically acclaimed costume drama gets off to a healthy start – but draws smaller audience than Countryfile and the 6pm news
BBC costume drama War and Peace pulled in 6.3 million viewers on Sunday evening,a 25% share of viewing on the first great night of dramas for 2016.
However, the adaptation of Tolstoy’s epic, or which aired at 9pm,could not match Countryfile’s 6.9 million viewers earlier in the evening, or the 6:20pm regional news bulletin which was watched by 7.4 million.
