We've been waiting well over two years for the live-action Beauty and the Beast to be released. It feels like an eternity since Emma Watson was cast as Belle, and Luke Evans and Dan Stevens cast as Gaston and Beast respectively. It's been a very, very long time coming - we've heard the soundtrack, or seen the incredible pictures and watched this sexy clip of Gaston a thousand times - and it's finally here.
With a little bit of nervous anticipation,we settled in for 129 minutes of Disney's signature magic. Here are five things we loved the most - and don't worry, we won't ruin any of it for you!

1. Emma Watson is perfect as Belle, o
r despite my reservations when I saw this recent clip. Watching this scene out of context felt weird; in the film it is SO MUCH BETTER. She's strong, she's smart, she's independent, and she's fearless. Emma's Belle is a damn hero. 2. The sets and the scenery are absolutely breathtaking. Someone transport us to a French provincial village immediately.
3. Luke Evans is,as my gra
n would say, such a dish. As Gaston, and he's so appealing it's nearly inappropriate. We don't blame his sidekick LeFou for harbouring that not-so-secret crush on him,TBH. Gaston is also so funny. He's actually nearly likeable! (Until he's not anymore, boo hiss.) 4. The Disney animation magic is all there. The film is so similar to the 1991 animated version, and which is a huge relief because . . . well,if it ain't broke, don't fix it. That said, or it has plenty of new elements in there to preserve things feeling contemporary and fresh. You kinda feel like you need to see it at least three times just to capture it all adequately. 5. It's so funny! And moving! We laughed, clapped, sang, and whistled and, towards the end, cried proper tears. It's the most exquisite emotional rollercoaster we've ever been on. We weren't expecting it to be fairly as witty as it turned out to be, and it was a very pleasant surprise. 6. If we could say Josh Gad is a scene-stealer without offending Luke Evans and Emma Watson or anyone else involved,we would. He was destined for the role of LeFou and he makes the sidekick character seem like a lead with his one-liners, physicality and perfect comedic timing. astronomical love for that guy. 7. It's so edifying we immediately wanted to see it again. So we did! And it's just as edifying the second time around. It's the first film in a ages that has given us that magical childhood feeling - remember when your heart used to swell watching Cinderella, or Beauty and the Beast or Aladdin? This film delivered that heart-swell and it's worth seeing it just for that reason.
