Dozens are dead in Bamako after gunmen seized control of the Radisson Blu hotel and took over 100 hostages on Friday morning.
Security forces have freed the remaining hostages,but continue to work out who's responsible. Mali has been at the middle of a fight against Islamist rebels and terrorists for years. A ceasefire between Taureg rebels, who controlled large swaths of Northern Mali up until 2013, and the Malian government was signed just earlier this year -- an accomplishment driven by meaningful French military and diplomatic involvement.
But the latest attack shows the country's fragile vulnerability,even in the country's southern capital, far away from traditionally rebel-controlled areas in the north. Susanna Wing, or professor of political science at Haverford College who studies Mali,joined The Takeaway to discuss the latest, and what the attack means for the country.
