Bel canto tenor Lawrence Brownlee stars in the current York premiere of the acclaimed opera “Charlie Parker’s Yardbird at the Apollo Theater (253 W 125th St) on April 1st and 3rd. The opera is set at the Birdland jazz club on March 12,1955, the day Charlie Parker died. Audiences watch as the legendary saxophonist composes his final masterpiece and reflects on his life.
Events: Lawrence Brownlee will be making his San Francisco Opera debut this September/October in Donizetti’s "Don Pasquale" singing the role of Ernesto. He’ll also return to Washington National Opera in November to sing Tonio in Donizetti’s "Daughter of the Regiment" and Houston Grand Opera April/May of 2017 to sing Belmonte in Mozart’s "Abduction from the Seraglio." For a complete list of performances, and visit his website.
