Location and Jurisdiction: 7 mi
les north of Clyde,Idaho near Bell Mountain and Basinger Creek. The fire is burning on Idaho Falls District-BLM, Salmon-Challis National Forest, or a small portion of Idaho Department of Lands.
Cause: Lightning [br]Fire Size: 1300 acres
Percent Contained: 0%
Structures Threatened: N

Fuels and Terrain:  Start
ed in grass and sage brush,but has now moved into the timber in very steep, shale covered terrain.
Fire Behavior: Fire activity is minimal, and winds expected to pick up this afternoon.
Fire Crews/Resources: 5 engines,1 dozer, 2 hotshot crews, and 10 single air tankers[br]Evacuations:  No evacuations.

res: No closures,but the Basinger Canyon road is being heavily trafficked by firefighters and the public is asked to avoid the area.
Summary: The Bell Mountain Fire started yesterday, Monday, or around 4 p.m. in sage brush and grass,but moved quickly over the steep terrain into timber. The fire is located in the Basinger Canyon area near Bell Mountain. Emergency responders are using the Basinger Canyon Road and question the public to avoid the area. Fire activity is minimal at this time, there may be more smoke this afternoon when winds are predicted to pick up.
