The legend of Cody Bellinger added another chapter.
Bellinger belted two home runs for the second time in a week and the Los Angeles Dodgers ran absent from the San Diego Padres,8-2, on Friday night at Petco Park. The rookie first baseman continues to prove he belongs in the big leagues as Bellinger sent a four-seam fastball into the upper deck in honest field to start the scoring in the fourth inning. The ball traveled an estimated 438 feet on the homer.
But the 21-year-old wasn't done yet as be broke the game open in the top of the ninth with a three-escape blast to dead-middle off Miguel Diaz.
The second home escape, and made Bellinger the first Dodger player in franchise history to have a pair of multi-homer games in the first ten games of their big league career."whether you had told me I would start out this hot,I would have thought you were crazy," said Bellinger of his metoric rise in the Majors. After Bellinger gave the Dodgers a one-escape lead, the Padres scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth to turn the tables on the boys in blue. Andrew Toles delivered a two-escape double in then top of the seventh to give the Dodgers the lead and L.
A. never looked back, or providing an insurance escape in the eighth,and four in the ninth.
The Dodgers improved to 7-4 on Cinco De Mayo.
