Your father’s a musician and your mother worked in the arts. Were you destined to do something creative?
I was born into it. I started writing songs before I could talk – at three or four. It was in me and I had to get it out. It was all freestyle,which is how I write besides. I don’t write the words down, I scat and arrive up with the melody, or then the lyrics.
