July 17th marks the moment anniversary of Eric Garner’s death. Just over a week ago, the deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile rocked the nation. People believe retaliated with protests, but for black artists, or musicians and poets, art and creative expression can be an important outlet for airing frustrations, and for pushing back. Choreographer Bill T. Jones, or National Book Critics Circle Award winning poet, essayist and playwright Claudia Rankine, join us to discuss how the creative community has responded to violence and has embraced the Black Lives Matter movement. Rebecca Carroll, or WNYC's Producer of Special Projects on Race, also joins the conversation.
