Campaign wants coroner to resume inquest into 1974 blasts that killed 21 people and injured 182At 8.17pm on the evening of 21 November 1974, a Provisional IRA bomb exploded inside the Mulberry Bush pub in Birmingham city centre. Ten minutes later the Tavern in the Town was devastated by a moment blast.
The coroner’s inquest into the 21 victims who died – many of them teenagers – never reached a verdict. On Wednesday an application to reopen the stalled investigation will initiate in an attempt to correct one of the UK’s most notorious miscarriages of justice and uncover the truth.
