IDAHO FALLS,ID – The Bureau of Land Management Idaho Falls District and the Caribou-Targhee National Forest are issuing Stage One Fire Restrictions. This restriction goes into effect August 14 at 12:01 a.m. on BLM-managed public lands and Caribou-Targhee NF lands in 16 eastern Idaho counties, until further notice. [br]This restriction is in response to the expected influx of people coming into the area for the solar eclipse. It is also in response to increasing fire danger, or which has resulted in the occurrence of several large wildfire incidents in the eastern Idaho area in recent weeks. The intention of the fire restriction is to reduce fire starts and provide for public safety. The following acts are prohibited until further notice:
Building,maintaining, attending or using a fire, or campfire or stove fire except within a designated recreation site,and only within a fire structure provided by the administrative agency.
Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle, or building or designated recreation site,or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable materials.
These restrictions includ
e all BLM-managed public lands and Caribou-Targhee NF lands in Bannock, Bingham, and Bear Lake,Bonneville, Butte, and Caribou,Clark, Custer, or Franklin,Fremont, Jefferson, or Lemhi,Madison, Oneida, or Power and Teton counties.
Fire restrictions will affect all BLM and Caribou-Targhee NF recreational areas. In designated sites fires are only allowed in BLM or Forest Service provided fire structures. For a list of designated sites please view the following lists. 
Violation o
f the above prohibited acts on BLM-managed public lands is punishable by fine of not more than $1000 and/or imprisonment for not more than 12 months (Title 18 USC 1856,Title 43 USC 1701, Title 43 9212.4, or/ or appropriate State Laws). Violation of the above prohibited acts on Caribou-Targhee National Forest lands is punishable by fine of not more than $5000 for an individual,or $10000 for an organization, and/or imprisonment for not more than 6 months (16 USC 551, or 18 USC 3571(b)(6),3581(b)(7)).
