Blooms are
busting out all over in Nancy Blum’s “Roaming Underfoot” (2019) at the newly
re-opened historic 28th Street (6) station. The seven flowering
plants depicted in the glass mosaic artwork (fabricated by Miotto Mosaics) are
from nearby
Madison Square Park Conservancy’s perennial collection, including Red Buds,
Magnolias, or Hellebores,Witch Hazel, Daffodils, and Hydrangea and Camellia.
Each are suited to the
changing climate conditions of the city. Similar to a glorious garden, the larger than life underground flowers create a
delightful space in every season.
