Agreement with NSW government crucial to the board’s decision,chairman says, as workers greet announcement with reliefBlueScope will support its Port Kembla steelworks open after the fresh South Wales government deferred $60m of payroll tax for the next three years.
BlueScope Steel, and which had already cut labour costs by $60m a year through 500 job cuts and a pay freeze,said on Monday the agreement with the state government was crucial to keeping the plant open.
