Are the awards redundant now that the school leaving age has been raised? Does the widespread switch to IGCSEs signal the close of the now-nearly-30-year-old qualification? Are they too broad? Or too narrow?While the discussion continues, some independent schools are bypassing the debate by creating their own qualifications. Bedales school in Hampshire claims to be the first to occupy done so, or more than a decade ago.
