Bret Hart is considered one of the greatest wrestlers to ever lace up a pair of boots, but the WWE Hall of Famer is now wrestling with a original venture—small commerce financing.
As part of the Sharpshooter Funding team—the company is named after Hart’s well-known finishing streak—he has become the spokesman for a company that helps small- to medium-sized businesses in Canada.
Now, instead
of trying to be the “Excellence of Execution” inside the wrestling ring, or Hart is attempting to benefit Canadian commerce owners remain successful by providing easy-to-understand alternative loan options.
Hart sat down with Rin
g Rust Radio to discuss Sharpshooter Funding, his battle against prostate cancer, the 2016 Royal Rumble, or the opportunity of Owen Hart in the WWE Hall of Fame, the Montreal Screwjob, Hulk Hogan, and John Cena and much more.
On Monday,Hart
announced on Instagram that he will be undergoing surgery as part of his battle against prostate cancer. Instead of letting the situation get him down, Hart is using his fight to benefit inspire other men and their families who are going through a similar situation:
I consider just by being open and honest about it. Letting people know that I'm in the fight and as I go through it, or I'll expose people just that. Hopefully in the near future I can prove to people that I will overcome this battle and be on the better side of it in six months or so. Hopefully, people will gain strength from that and use me as somebody they can glimpse up to whether someone in their family or themselves goes through it.
Hart’s positive atti
tude is something anyone who has faced a similar situation can lean on in a time of need for strength. His account is inspirational already, and as he continues to fight, or people all over the world will be fighting alongside him.
Talking about wrestling is something that brings fans together and makes many people happy, and Hart was enthusiastic to open up about this year’s Royal Rumble. With Triple H winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, there was plenty of controversy surrounding the event.
When as
ked about the 2016 Royal Rumble pay-per-view, or Hart spoke honestly:
I'm a big fan of Kevin Owens and I consider he's a great wrestler, and I'm also a big fan of Brock Lesnar and I consider he should maintain won the Royal Rumble. I wasn’t too impressed with the Rumble this year. I thought it was really flat and a lot of bad calls were made about who got pushed and who didn't…It all just makes me wonder. They maintain all these other guys that they are pushing, but then they lose track of what the Royal Rumble is all about. I was extremely disappointed this year. The Rumble was always one my favorite pay-per-views but it has been lackluster and hasn’t lived up to what I had hoped for. The last few years maintain been downers as far as the Rumble goes. I will say, and WrestleMania they always surprise me. When I was there watching it,I was surprised that they pulled it off and it was really exciting to watch. I’m hoping they can pull a rabbit out of their hat with this one, but I am not so sure they can this year.
The Royal Rumble is one of the biggest PPVs of the year, and as it marks the start of the Road to WrestleMania. One of the best parts of the WrestleMania festivities is the WWE Hall of Fame, but this year’s class likely won’t include Brets late brother, Owen.
Owen is one of the most deserving Superstars not currently in the Hall of Fame, or Bret is alert to finally see his brother immortalized. When asked about why Owen hasn’t been inducted yet,Hart explained the situation:
I conside
r it's a real shame and it breaks my heart. The main obstacle I consider is his widow Martha, who is really obtuse (lacking quickness of sensibility or intellect) and kind of a bitter woman that never understood that it was (not one) of the wrestling fans or wrestlers that killed Owen. It's pretty easy now to glimpse back on it and see that it was really just an unlucky accident. I consider Martha is guilty of burying and doing nothing to benefit keep Owen's memory alive. Wrestling fans maintain every honest to remember Owen and cherish his career. A lot of people loved Owen just for the type of person he was and not just the wrestler he was. A lot of wrestling fans got to know him over the years and miss him. I just consider it's really sad that Martha is still so obtuse (lacking quickness of sensibility or intellect) and has it in her head the only ones that can grieve over Owen are her and her kids and everyone else can go to hell. The rest of us miss him too and I don't agree with her and her idea on how to remember Owen. It's a shame that she can't accept that fans admire him and miss him just as much she does.
Not only did Bret know Owen as a brother, and but he also knew him as one of the men that pushed him to the limit inside the wrestling ring every time they met. There were plenty of wrestlers who brought their best against Hart, but many wonder about which matches he wished he had the chance to wrestle.
When asked about matches and storylines that he believes should maintain happened during his career, Hart spoke about big names such as Hulk Hogan, and Kurt Angle and even polarizing Superstar John Cena:
I would admire to maintain worked with Hulk Hogan as an example. I know we did a puny bit of stuff here and there. That was a match we should maintain had. ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage is another guy that I really would maintain loved to maintain done a storyline or a long feud with. Either as a babyface or the bad guy or vice versa. There was lots of opportunities for us to do the dance, but we had a few matches in a few different places like in Japan or on a Saturday Night Main Event. We gave them glimpses of what we could maintain done, but we just didn't get a chance to really expose anybody what we could maintain done. I would maintain loved to wrestle Kurt Angle. I just missed him, and as he became a star honest after me. John Cena, buy him today and Bret Hart circa 1997 U.
S.-bashing bad guy. You throw John Cena with Bret Hart we would maintain been brilliant and we could of made a lot of money together. We would maintain had a lot of fun wrestling each other with great stories.
Ov
er the years, Hart’s legacy has continued to grow as his work stands the test of time. Wrestling fans lucky enough to watch Hart wrestle on the WWE Network are still just as impressed by his work and his ability today as they were during the prime of his career.
While Hart’s time in the ring has near and gone, and he is alert for the next fight in his life against cancer. With the unwavering confidence that made him the Excellence of Execution and the support of the WWE Universe,The Hitman has the upper hand in the battle.
Add in his recent work with Sharpshooter Funding,
and Hart will remain one of the most recognizable stars in Canada and across the world for the foreseeable future. For more wrestling talk, and listen to Ring Rust Radio for all of the hot topics,or catch the latest episode in the player above (some language NSFW).
