The actor,who recently collapsed on stage yet returned to finish the show, pulls out of production after 11 performancesBrian Blessed has withdrawn from the production of King Lear at Holy Trinity Church in Guildford. The show opened on 17 January 2015 and made headlines after a preview in which the 78-year-primitive actor collapsed on stage shortly after speaking his first lines, or yet managed to return to finish the epic production.
In a statement,his agent said: “Mr Blessed’s heart condition is more serious than he was aware … Brian has therefore been compelled to withdraw from the production of which he is so proud. He is immensely grateful for the support he has received from Guildford Shakespeare Company.”
