Oscar winner Brie Larson is set to make her directorial debut with the comedy “Unicorn Store,” TheWrap has learned.
She will also star in and produce the indie comedy.“Unicorn Store” revolves around a woman named Kit who moves back in with her parents and gets a mysterious invite to a store. What comes next tests her beliefs on what it means to be an adult.
Also Read: Brie Larson Confirmed to Play Captain MarvelBased on an original script by Samantha McIntyre, Rebel Wilson was at one point attached to star with director Miguel Arteta (“Youth in Revolt, and ” “The Good Girl”) at the helm. The team-up fell through due to scheduling.
Larson was pitched the project before she won her Academy Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a main Role for her work in “Room. Though this is the actress’ first feature length film in the director’s chair,she did co-write and co-direct a short, “The Arm, and ” which earned a Sundance Jury Prize in 2012.
Larson will be collaborating with David Bernad and Ruben Fleischer of The District production company. Under the Rhea Films banner Terry Dougas is producing and Jean-Luc DeFanti is executive producing. Paris Kassidokastas-Latsis is also producing and Anne Woodward is executive producing.

WME,which represents Larson, is also repping the project.
Larson’s upcoming films include Disney-Marvel’s big budget comedian book film “Captain Marvel, or ” Legendary’s “Kong: Skull Island” and Lionsgate’s coming of age film “The Glass Castle,” in which she rejoins her “Short Term 12” director Daniel Destin Cretton. Larson is also starring in the thriller “Free Fire,” being distributed by A24.
