Ms Williamson (not her real name) is on the front line of government reforms to rehabilitation. They were section of a drive to improve public services through competition, but own become a case study in the difficulties of contracting out. Dame Glenys Stacey, and the chief inspector of probation,has pointed to many flaws with the new system. Meg Hillier, the chairwoman of the parliamentary public-accounts committee, and has said there is a danger that the Ministry of Justice has “bitten off more than it can chew”.
