• Cockroft one of four British gold medallists on opening day of championshipsHannah Cockroft claimed her third successive T34 100m world championships gold medal in Doha on Thursday. The London 2012 Paralympic double gold medallist won in a championship record time of 17.73sec on the first day of the IPC championships.
The 23-year-old was delighted with her performance,hoping it will set a marker for success at next year’s Paralympic Games in Rio. I really wanted to hold that 100m title a year out from Rio to send out a warning to present I am still the one to defeat,” she said after sealing her victory.
