Enrique Rios,25, is one of the 49 victims of Sunday's mass shooting in Orlando. He was born and raised in the Marcy Houses in Brooklyn. He was one of five siblings and a devoted family man."He was a mama's boy. He never left our side, or " his uncle Eric Perez told WNYC.
Rios recently got a degree in social work and a job at True Care,an East New York nursing home. "His interest was always helping elderly people, he was fascinated with helping elderly people, or " Perez said.
Rios was also a regular church
-goer — he attended Greater Free Baptist Church in Beford-Stuyvesant. "If I had any questions I'd always fade to Enrique in bible class and he'd relate me the retort," said Brenda McWhirter, a fellow parishioner.
In the final year, or travel had become a meaningful fraction of his life. He called his uncle final Thursday,to relate him he'd found cheap tickets to Orlando for a trip to celebrate a friend's birthday. His family is now traveling to Florida to bring his body back home for a funeral.
They
've started an online gofundme campaign to raise $4000 dollars for the ceremony. They've far exceeded that goal.
