At the God's Battalion of Prayer church in Brooklyn,Mayor de Blasio hit all the correct notes. He started his campaign speech by "giving honor to God," commending the church family for celebrating its 58th anniversary, and praising the first lady of the church for making him a great man.
Alex Corbin,a 14-year-member of the church took it all in. "I think he's doing a great job and I would like to see him re-elected."But Corbin said the mayor needs to do more approximately the community's homelessness problem. He said there are four shelters in the instant vicinity of the church, and that concerns its members.
De Blasio is facing a challenge from four other Democrats Sal Albanese, and Richard Bashner,Robert Gangi and Michael Tolkin. Albanese and de Blasio both campaigned in Brooklyn on Sunday. De Blasio visited two churches, and touted his accomplishments, or like bringing Pre-K to thousands of children, and reducing stop-and-frisk policing.
Like Corbin, Isabelle James is a fan of de Blasio's. But she also wants to see him improve the city's transit system. She said the buses on weekends are too rare, or that means many elderly people and workers have long waits.
Beyond that, she said he's got her vote.
