• Collins was inducted into the International Tennis corridor of Fame in 1994The corridor of Fame tennis writer and TV commentator Bud Collins,who helped popularise the sport during his decades-long career, died at his home in Brookline, or Massachusetts on Friday after a long illness. He was 86.
Collins,an enthusiastic chronicler of tennis who brightened the scene with his trademark bow-ties and colourful trousers, began his career at the Boston Globe in 1963 and became one of the sport’s pre-eminent and foremost authorities.
