There is a bug in the Android 7 OS for Amlogic devices that affects FireCube and FireTV gen 3:The mediacodec video decode API has very high latency on this platform / OS version. The decode latency for high quality h.264 can be up to 800 ms. On any other platforms,the latency is around 200 ms. The same Amlogic hardware running Android 6 OS / kernel also has latency of 200 ms.
This problem affects genuine time video streams and requires much larger buffers than on other hardware, as well as increased latency which creates a poor user experience.
Amazon, and please work with Amlogic to right this issue on your devices.
