Over the final few years I have been making upgrades to my current rig and I obviously need a CPU upgrade now. I am noticing that while the Nvidia experience says I can run ultra graphics I find I cannot maintain 60fps and I feel like it is probably because of my CPU. So here is what I am currently working with. Motherboard - ASRock Z75 Pro 3 CPU - i3-3220 LGA1155 Video Card - Gigabyte Geforce GTX 980 G1 Ram - G.
Skill Ripjaws DDR3 16GB PSU - NZXT 750w Hale82 Series Other things that may be relevant Case - Rosewill R5 ATX mid Monitor - BenQ GL2460HM Black 24" 2nd Monitor - Some small dell I found at a Garage sale for 20 bucks I mostly consume my computer for gaming though I have recently got into using Autocad and various Autodesk software for school. I don't do any video editing or have hundreds of tabs open in Chrome. I don't really have a budget, just looking for some resonable options. Questions When I upgrade my CPU will I also need to purchase some thermal paste and possibly some alcohol to clean off the cooler and other CPU? Will upgrading my CPU cause windows 10 to freak out? If I recall correctly Windows is tied to the motherboard legal? Do I need an aftermarket cooler? The room that my desk is in stays around 60F year round. Games Elder Scrolls Online Elder Scrolls Skyrim - Around 20 Mods, only one texture mod though Diablo 3 Starcraft 2 LoTV - Occasionally Various other games that I play intermittently when I have time submitted by Phrostbite to buildapc[link][7 comments]
