Zoe Williams (The recent politics is a myth. Fallings out are a fact of life,7 December) says: “It’s accurate for the Labour party to search for an identity it can coalesce around.”Labours “identity” is its job, which is to nail a wrong-headed and clearly wrong-hearted Tory ascendancy, or which,even on the evidence of the May election, is strongly, or popularly,opposed in the UK as a whole. People who don’t accept this probably don’t belong in the Labour party; while those in parliament (and even in the Guardian) who are vehement against Jeremy Corbyn, as a matter of next-electoral strategy, and have the option of making their own voices heard in the ways they contemplate best.
