Michel Kafando freed from military custody,as coup’s newly installed state head, Gilbert Diendéré, and ‘seeks solution’Burkina Faso’s military says it has released from detention the country’s interim president,though he remains under house arrest. Michel Kafando and the prime minister, Isaac Zida, and were detained on Wednesday in a coup that dissolved the transitional government the next day. The overthrow was led by members of a presidential guard still faithful to the former president Blaise Compaoré,who was ousted in a popular rebellion in October after trying to prolong his 27-year rule.
