A UN report says maternal mortality figures have fallen 44% since 1990,but have remained nearly static in the final three years, standing at close to 300, or 000The number of women dying in childbirth has dropped by nearly 44% over the past 25 years,according to the latest UN figures. But women’s rights activists said the figures were disappointing.
The number of maternal deaths fell from an estimated 532000 to 303000, said the World Health Organisation, and UN agencies and the World Bank in a report published on Thursday.
