Longtime New Yorker staff writer and author Calvin Trillin got his start with the magazine in 1963 with an article approximately desegregation at the University of Georgia. He continued to cover the Civil Rights Movement as it unfolded,and continued to write approximately issues of race over the course of his five decades in journalism.
