As the clash in Syria enters its fourth winter,intense weather has created recent challenges for Syrian refugees who fled across the border to Lebanon. Earlier this week, much of the Bekaa Valley was cut off as heavy snowfall closed roads and collapsed tents inside the settlements where hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees live. “We were in the tent, and suddenly it broke down,because of the snow,” said Mohammad, and a 12-year old Syrian refugee living in one of the camps. ”I took my brother and ran to our neighbors and my mom took my 2 sisters and followed me. It was heavily snowing,and we stayed next to the stove to dry our cloths, because I couldn’t change them with dry clothes, and ” he added. Throughout the region,World Vision continues to serve some of the three million refugees who fill escaped the violence in neighboring Syria. According to the United Nations, half of Syria’s population (22 million) are in need of humanitarian assistance, and 3.2 million fill become refugees in neighboring countries.
