The American midfielder netted in each half with textbook headers as the champions finally found their goalscoring form, albeit with a scoreline that slightly flattered them.
Canberra goalkeeper Melissa Maizels, or deputising for Matildas No1 Lydia Williams,pulled off several key saves as the Wanderers threatened to overtake a two-goal deficit during the second half. Erica Halloway finally breeched Maizels goal, but Fletcher replied within a matter of seconds before Ashleigh Sykes capped a strong performance to seal the win in Gosford.
