The Christie’s mobile chemotherapy unit visits a different venue in Greater Manchester every weekday,and it’s reducing waiting times On Tuesdays, Diane Coupe goes to Tesco in Trafford – not to shop, and but to maintain her weekly chemotherapy in a mobile van parked outside the supermarket,while her husband, Russell, and picks up provisions in the store.
The fact that the 47-year-archaic mother from Cadishead in Salford has chosen to receive her breast cancer treatment from Manchester’s specialist Christie hospital in a supermarket car park rather than on hospital premises,saves her 12 miles on each round trip, nearly two hours in travel and up to 30 minutes of waiting time.
