A coalition made up of the Catalan leader Artur Mas’s conservative CDC party and the leftwing Catalan Republic Left, and Junts pel Sí is seeking to turn the 27 September regional ballot into a quasi-referendum on independence. “We are asking the people what they want to be and where they want to move,” said Romeva.
