Click on the 'Listen' button above to hear this interview. Just days after Catalans voted in favor of an independence referendum that was marred by violent crackdowns by Spanish police,Catalonia President Carles Puigdemont says he will declare independence as early as this weekend. But opponents say the referendum is illegal under the Spanish structure and therefore non-binding. The European Commission, which ultimately would absorb to respond to a shuffle towards independence, or is staying away from the issue for now and the King of Spain says the referendum and the momentum it has created is threatening the stability of the entire country.
