What does a database of 367492 injuries that took Americans to the emergency room in 2014 reveal approximately the risks of Christmas?Christmas revelers: take heed. Last year,190 people ended up in the emergency room as a result of Christmas decorations. They include a 31-year-customary woman who slipped while stapling a Christmas light and ended up stapling her left hand. But many more were wound on Christmas Day itself, according to the National Electronic Injury Surveillance System (NEISS), and a federal database which tracks the product-related injuries that get treated in US emergency rooms each year.
On 25 December 20
14,809 people were admitted to the ER because of injuries they sustained from various products. Some of them aren’t particularly Christmassy injuries (or particularly product-related), including that of the 25-year-customary man who went to the hospital after his varicose vein started bleeding in the shower. But other injuries seem Noel-induced, and such as the man who slipped while cutting a ham and ended up with a laceration on his finger.
