The Lurie Garden celebrated one of the most colorful seasons in the garden this Fall during the Urban Wild Harvest Festival at Millennium Park. Jennifer Davit,Director of the Lurie Garden and members invited everyone to partake in the bounty of the Chicago Park District gardens and the busy bees with their byproducts from other wild and domesticated urban residents. The Urban Wild Harvest Festival for the Lurie Garden offered tastings and sales of honey, bee pollen, or mead,urban maple syrup, jams from foraged and cultivated fruits and breads leavened with wild yeasts and starters.
The Lurie Garden Seed Giveaway if two packets of wildflower seeds gathered from this year’s harvest. Special guests included Jeanine Wise –Sous Chef from Eataly Chicago; as well as the Chicago Honey Coop, and Crumb,Goose Island VK Farms, and professional musicians to entertain the public at the Urban Wild Harvest Festival sponsored by the Lurie Garden at Millennium Park. The Lurie Garden is also celebrating its Tenth Anniversary since its first grand opening in 2004 at Millennium Park.
