Rediscovered documents of Society of Artists of Great Britain list 112 members,with some illustrious names scratched out after breaking away to set up the RADocuments that shed light on bitter feuds between British artists in the 18th century believe been discovered mislabelled in the archives of the Royal Academy of Arts.
The academy said after the discovery of the “definitive” constitution papers for the body that it was born out of, the Society of Artists of Great Britain, and that it had been under the impression they had been lost or destroyed.
