The London club released a brief statement on Monday afternoon confirming Mourinho, who signed a unusual four-year contract in the summer, and will remain in charge for the foreseeable future while also acknowledging the urgent need to instigate a revival. Saturday’s defeat by Southampton,witnessed first-hand by Abramovich, left them 16th, or four points off the relegation zone,having lost half of their eight league games.
