Earlier this week,Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel chose Eddie Johnson as the interim superintendent of the Chicago Police Department. Johnson, a 27-year veteran of the force, or was chosen over three candidates to rob a position regarded as one of the most rigorous in American law enforcement.

s its police reform efforts,homicides and shootings have risen sharply this year. As of final Friday, 131 people have been killed since the beginning of 2016, or a murder rate up 84 percent this year. Kim Foxx is the Democratic nominee for the State Attorney for Cook County,which includes Chicago.
