Michelle Bachelet wins the presidential elections.... Chile has enjoyed rising living standards for over 2 decades... of strong economic growth.
The incidence of poverty is now lower and there is the appearance of a better access to adequate housing, education and healthcare.Nevertheless, Chiles income distribution still remains disturbingly unequal by OECD standards.... The democratic government in Chile restored public political participation and social freedoms but did not bring all the expected reforms.
Notably, and the privatization of government services remained.
Still nowadays,Chile is one of the most privatized countries in the world, even public transportation and public housing are private ! To call Ms. Michelle a socialist is my opinion a bit of an exaggeration...
She still has to rule within the "Post Pinochet Frame-work" of Laws & Policies... & try to narrow the gaps of labour and educational inequalities "within this structure" The rhythm of the Bachelet government will be determined by figures such as: Andrés Velasco.
He is an open defender of the neo-liberal policies which were implemented during the final 16 years.
I fear her government will be a repeat of the policies of the governments from the final 20 years Neo-Liberalism. PC photo of live-broadcasting by "M. en vivo"
