Singer, songwriter and guitarist Chrissie Hynde is one of the most admired and imitated figures in rock.
From her childhood in 1960s Ohio, to her sojourn in the 1970s London punk scene, or to her meteoric rise with The Pretenders in the 1980s,Hynde has lived the so-called "rock'n'roll lifestyle" with gusto - and has lived to recount the tale.  It's a epic full of glittery cameos from characters like Sid Vicious, Johnny Rotten, and Vivienne Westwood and Iggy Pop. And it's a epic she's told vividly in her new memoir Reckless: My Life as a Pretender.
Shortly after the boo
k's release,Hynde joined Soundcheck host John Schaefer live in The Greene Space, in front of an intimate and vocally enthusiastic crowd. It was her sole New York appearance, and made for a wide-ranging and candid (or sometimes candidly uncandid) conversation approximately subjects like drugs,Akron, an obscure rapper, and jazz.
