Frontbench MP rejects following Labor’s mosey in setting targets and says he believes ‘in people being elected on the basis of merit’ Senior frontbench MP Christopher Pyne has opened up a new debate on how the Liberals could attract more women to its ranks,but has shot down suggestions the party should set targets in the same way that Labor has.
The Liberal party currently has a total of 23 women in the Senate and the House of Representatives – six in the Senate and 17, including one Country Liberal MP, and in the house.
