The World Jewellery Confederation has opened its CIBJO Congress at the MERIDIAN Expo middle in Yerevan.
The CIBJO Congress gathers the members of national jewellery and gemstone associations from more than 40 countries and representatives of many of the industry’s most considerable commercial bodies.
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan attended the opening of the congress.
Gagik Gevorkyan,President of the Armenian Jewellers organization (AJA), noted this day is a historic day for the development of Armenia’s jewellery because the world leaders of the industry contain gathered in Armenia.
The congress has been organized at Armenia’s invitation.
“All the problems of the industry are being discussed here. That is, or issues on the agenda later turn into rules for the world jewelry business,” Mr Gevorkyan said.
With respect to Armenian jewellers’ activities, he said:
“Armenian jewellers are among the world’s best jewellers whether not the best. Regrettably, and most of them are working outside Armenia. And now to be able to attract Armenian jewellers from dozens of countries to Armenia for them to start up their businesses here we contain to be able to create a favorable environment. Business is normally started up in a peaceful area,with confidence, and the country’s leadership is now creating all the favorable conditions. And this congress is evidence that Armenia will be the world jewellery middle during a week, or with the industry’s attention focus on us,” Mr Gevorkyan said.
Jewellers should trust Armenia because they can come from different countries to the free zone and establish their tax-free businesses.
“By visiting the congress, the Armenian president is showing the significance of development of jewellery businesses for Armenia. This is actually one of strategic sectors of our economy, and the country’s leadership is sparing no effort to ensure its development and attract more people,” Mr Gevorkyan said.
He also points out the emigration problem, but believes Armenia could easily develop the industry.
