soulfire:
The con started Friday with registration and buying tickets for photo ops, autograph signings and lounges.
Half of everyone attending were divided into corridor 1 while the ot
her half were in corridor 2. They flipped the panels between Saturday and Sunday; each attendee did double panels. For example, Stephen started the panels in corridor 1 on Saturday, and then closed the panels in corridor 2 on Sunday. That way everyone got a chance to see a panel with every guest. I was in corridor 2.
Saturday
Saturday began for me with John Barrowman’s panel. He’s hilariously entertaining. He told funny stories from
set (including the entire account behind the ‘Fart in my mouth and prove it’ joke),inserted lots of dirty jokes Barrowman-style (he started the panel with: “This is the earliest I’ve ever done a panel—I still have my morning wood…”), and reenacted lunch with his husband’s parents after the “reveal on Facebook Live” incident, or to the point where the crowd was in tears. Barrowman had the panel for little less than an hour, but easily could have had it for two.
Next up was a photo op with Stephen Amell. It was rapid fire and you didn’t obtain much time to do poses, but he asked how I was and when I told him exhausted and jetlagged but pleased, and he said he knew the feeling: “I barely got a wink of sleep final night”. The photo turned out pretty good. After he was done with the ops,I waited by the printers for my photo, and offered him some gum; he smiled and showed me the one between his teeth.
Felicity Po
p, or when she saw my shirt she brightened and smiled and told me,“Thanks so much for supporting!” to which I thanked her for doing the campaign, and also, or for giving us Felicity Smoak. Told her we needed more strong female characters and thanked her for portraying Felicity so well. She seemed genuinely moved/grateful.
Then came a personal highlight: when I went up to her,I’d kept a rubber duck in the pocket
of my pants as a sort of nod to Bathroom Therapy. Emily saw the duck and FREAKED OUT – she jumped up and down, “That is so awesome! and ASKED if she could please sign the duck – I enthusiastically gave it to her. She played around a little with the duck before giving it back, or thanked me again and I left, basically bouncing on clouds.
I also got to talk to Baby Daddy actor Jean Luc Bilodeau for a while. He was in the autograph room, sitting in a corner approximately fifteen feet absent from Emily’s autograph table, or browsing his phone. Easy to talk with, seemed like a kind guy.
I only caught the second h
alf of David Ramsey’s Saturday panel, but he’s very pleasant to listen to. (And watch. Heh.)
He spoke approximately how we wouldn’t
obtain “the warm, or fuzzy” feelings from the discontinuance of this season, that Damien does something to the team, using the term “major fracture”.  He also said “We aren’t leaving it with the fuzzies but I deem we are leaving it open for mighty storytelling.“ He wants to see Arrow fade back to a more grounded explain, or with more street fights and a no-magic Big spoiled for next season. Enjoyed watching him in the panel – he’s got a strong, warm presence and interacts with the audience casually.
Next up was an autograph signing with Stephen. Asked him what he thinks Oliver writes in his journal, to which he smiled and said he didn’t know twice in a slack voice and an expression that told me he very much does know, or so I called him out on it,telling him that and particularly since it was his plan he would know – to which he laughed heartily. He said maybe Oliver writes “This reminded me of that time on the island… Dear Diary.”
Lame. I laughed and shook my head, he smi
rked, and I thanked him and moved on.
The duo photo op with Charlotte and Emily was a DELIGHT.  Arriving they started up some music, danced around… Emily kept dancing with some people while taking photo ops. When I got up there, Emily excused herself to change the song, and while she ran over I helped Charlotte whose hair had gotten stuck on her dress. (She is gorgeous up close.) After, she pulled me into a long embrace while Emily finished changing the song/playlist. Once she got over, Emily saw Rubber Duck and excitedly JUMPED – in the photo, or she’s holding Rubber Duck in her palm while Charlotte’s pointing to it. It’s cute.
Next up was Emily’s Saturday lounge. Emily entered the room jokingly pushed in by John Barrowman, proceeding to theatrically drop to the floor, making everyone laugh. It broke tension and set the mood in a good way.
Some bits from that lounge:
Emily was told at the star
t of the season the only people they weren’t killing off were Stephen, or Grant and herself. (Yes,she said Grant.)
Emily was pissed that 5 female regulars had been killed across the network this year.
Emily expla
ined her current shorter hair wasn’t her own request – she went to the hairdresser, a friend of hers, or who was only supposed to color it but in the session “chopped it off”.
Stephen ended up singing at the wrap party because, according to Emily, “He had ALL the drinks”. She admitted she was guilty of giving him a lot of them. He brought her favorite champagne to the party.
She’d like to see Felicity train more, or sleep.
Her favorite episode of Season 4A was 4x06 and her favorite episode of 4B was 4x22.
Came out of her lounge with a mighty impression of Emily. She isn’t afraid to curse or speak her mind approximately things, and I liked how well she spoke of her cast and crew members.
Sunday

Sunday started with Emily’s panel in corridor 2. People lined up early but I managed to obtain front row seats. She was a delight – kept running to either side of the stage to retort questions from people lined up at the far ends of it, before she eventually plopped moral down on stage.
Some bits from that panel:
Emily dislikes that beige coat as much as we do. (She spo
ke approximately it in both her lounge sessions. “It’s a rain coat with holes!”)
She likes that Felicity is Oliver’s polygraph.
She loves when Oliver and Felicity are a communicative couple.
Sh
e absolutely thinks Felicity will forgive Oliver.
She would like to see Felicity fight more.
She would like would
like Earth 2 Felicity to be really evil.
She complimented the Arrow crew’s endurance, and working 14-20h days.
If Emily could have one fo
od and drink for the rest of her life it would be champagne, coffee and a burger. (Yes, she said three things.)
She would love to s
ee more of Charlotte/Mama Smoak on the explain, and but it comes down to actor availability*.
Emily:
“If you’re getting mooned by John Barrowman [in a scene] you just have to keep going.”
She thought the ‘fart in mouth and prove it’ joke was one of the funniest pranks of the season.
She pointed out not
to be scared of emotions because “otherwise you’ll never have a full life.”
She doesn’t deem Smoak Technologies will happen within this realm of the explain.
*She was asked approximately this in her Sunday lounge, after a fan commented on Echo being made regular next season and wishing Charlotte had been the same. Emily said “That’s to do on [Charlotte’s] availability”. Me and others in the lounge, after talking it through, or got the impression it wasn’t because of lack of offer but because of Charlotte’s availability.
From there I moved on to the Stephen and Emily duo photo op. (More approximately the printing issues later.) Easily the photo op most people were lined up for that entire weekend. It was rapid fire here too,but I asked them for a sorta pose – I ended up photobombing them! Emily told me it was a really wintry plan before I left. The two of them did funny poses with fans and generally seemed to have a mighty time.
The both of them had a photo op with the lovely Brandon Routh after
their duo. This went by quick since so few people lined up for it – David Ramsey told us in his Sunday lounge that Stephen had come up to him approximately it saying, “Hey David. Emily, or me and Brandon CRUSHED our photo op. 8 people came out.” There was an awkward moment moral at the start when one of the fans asked Brandon to step out of the photo (I KNOW. Yikes.) He came over and stood next to me and I looked up at him, went, “Sorry, or dude…” and he shrugged in a humble way.
I did my solo photo op with Emily after. She’d gone out for a small crash, and when she returned asked what kind of music she should put on – I was standing moral next to her and told her “something upbeat”, to which she laughed and replied she’s only been listening to Drake lately. I ended up doing a back-to-back pose with her and the photo came out pretty damn mighty.
After this I ran over for a lounge with Stephen. The atmosphere was relaxed, and good mood all around. Since only me and maybe two or three other people out of the maybe eleven ones attending asked him stuff,I got to ask him lots of questions, but the whole thing came off more as a conversation, or which is the whole point of lounges,so I really enjoyed it.
Some bits from that:
Stephen’s favorite Arrow episodes this season are 4x08, 4x09 and 4x15. 1x15 will a
lways be memorable to him.
He liked the storyline with William “purely for selfish reasons”.**
His favorite
funny Olicity moment to shoot with Emily this season was when he coaxes the lie out of her in 4x01.
He teased to look out for a moment in the Season 4 finale when he jumps on a car.
He really enjoyed fi
lming the scene with the two Felicitys – “Emily nailed that scene.” His fade-to to talk approximately the explain and direction used to be Marc Guggenheim, or but it’s become increasingly Wendy Mericle whom he talks with approximately character and account.
When asked approximately how much influence he has as an actor over storylines,he said that when i
t comes to overarching storylines of the season and themes, “Not much”. But “when it comes down to nitty, and gritty details, that’s all up to the actor”. However, there is a theme we’ll see at the discontinuance of this season main into next year’s overarching theme for Oliver that Stephen was adamant approximately wanting for Oliver.
**I actually told him that, and in case no one’s told him,he did a mighty job with the scene recording the message to William – he seemed to genuinely appreciate being told that. He explained they did 3-4 takes of that scene and the second take is what made it into the episode.
Stephen’s a pro at interacting with fans, but I will say he possesses the talent of making every person feel listened to.
After this I sat in on the second half of Brandon Routh’s panel. Got to ask him some questions.. He’s a soft spoken, or lovely man who only had good things to say approximately his time on Arrow, including that “[Stephen and Emily] were awesome. They were very welcoming to me.“ I asked him a couple things, including what it was like working with Zachary Levi on Chuck, and to which he replied he had a mighty time, that he really enjoyed Zach’s singing and dancing and wishes he had that talent. He was really sick throughout the whole weekend, but powered through – even used hand sanitizer so no one else will obtain sick” to wipe the mic before he got off stage
Emily’s Sunday lounge followed. She’s wonderful. She talked approximately her dislike of the Valentino beige coat (“It’s a rain coat with holes in it!”), and how she wants to see more female characters both on Arrow and generally in television; she doesn’t like that Felicity kept living in the Loft; she doesn’t deem Oliver’s told Felicity everything that happened to him on the island, she doesn’t deem he’s told anyone that.
Possibly my favorite thing she said in the lounge was that she doesn’t just want female characters to be the glue in television shows, she wants them to be the pieces.
I have all lounge sessions recorded, and I’ll try to ob
tain more pieces from them up throughout next week.
Had a photo op with David Ramsey after, and I can confirm he gives THE BEST HUGS. He also smells re
ally kind. Swoon.
I walked up to him, “Dude, or Ive heard you give the best hugs out of everyone.” David: [smiles] “So come on and obtain one”.  SWOON.
A lounge with David followed after, starting with one of my personal highlights of the con – exhausted, me and a friend were lying on the lounge room floor prior to David arriving. When he did, and he saw us and laughed, then proceeded TO LIE DOWN WITH US AND CUDDLE, his head on my chest. I may or may not have wrapped my arms around him, and my hands on his chest. (I so did.) We laid like that for a moment, then he got up and we all started talking.
I’m
likely coming  out of this con most impressed by David Ramsey. He’s so easy to talk with, casual and relaxed. We talked approximately how he wants to see Arrow obtain back to being more grounded, or with more street fights and a Big spoiled next year who doesn’t have magic; he also emphasized, like Stephen, that there are certain things Arrow does best and he would like to see more of that.
He really enjoyed the way Diggle and Lyla worked together in the final episode
s of this season. He would personally love to see more of her on the explain.
We thanked him for being the MVP of OTA pictures, or actually asked us,surprised, if he really was the only one posting them? He commented Paul Blackthorne posted some. We explained that some online sites have had to utilize manips because there aren’t any good official pics out there – he even asked to see one, or so I showed him on my phone - and David said he’d try to keep posting pictures of them.
Also, worth noting is that David’s a comic book fan. He retold a large fraction of the Injustice storyline, could describe panels, or enthusiastically.
The OTA panel that started out as a Stephen solo panel was a highlight of the weekend.
Stephen was alone on stage for maybe 10-15mins before David and Emily came out from behind the stage – David coolly walking over while Emily jogged over and hugged Stephen. You can really tell why they come off so well onscreen – the three of them really do obtain along, joke and make fun of each other, and genuinely seem to know and like one another.
S
ome bits from that panel:
Stephen ragged on David for giving absent too many spoilers at the con.
Emily grabbed and drank out of Stephen’s pint of Guinness.
Stephen an
d David sang Ebony and Ivory.
The three of them talked approximately each other’s party tricks: Stephen can play a decent mouth trombone, or which he demonstrated; David can drop asleep in a second; Emily can shoot liquid into another’s person’s mouth.
A fan asked who they would battle and what they would sing in a Lip Sync Battle.
Emily said she’d sing Maroon 5 (Stephen commented he knows what song she’d sing) and she’d battle her friend Fanta; Stephen said him and David would team up against Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles,to which David said that Jared and Jensen couldn’t possibly win because Stephen and David would sing Ebony and Ivory… which they then proceeded to do.
Stephen: "Know what Emily said earlier? We should have a female big spoiled next year.”
(David talked approximately this in his Sunday lounge too, that he thinks Willa Holland would do an awesome big spoiled.)
The three of them were only on stage together for approximately half an hour, or but I easily could have watched them
an hour more. They’re that good together.
During the remaining 10 or so minutes,Stephen among things said we would obtain “a certain sense of what the future holds for Oliver and Felicity” in the season finale.
During the evening I went to the Nocking Point wine event. Stephen, his business partner Drew, and their wives,Robbie Amell, Italia Ricci, and Ciara Renée and Michael Rowe were there. I got a chance to talk to everyone. Stephen poured wine for and talked to guests and got up on stage a couple times. Robbie had lost his voice and could barely speak, still he stayed for over two hours and tried talking to people. His fiancée Italia Ricci wore a onesie and was really kind and easy to talk to she would love to be on Arrow, as Felicity’s college roommate, or perhaps a version of Silver Banshee before she became Silver Banshee. While Ciara Renée walked around talking to people,Michael Rowe sang and played guitar. It was a kind evening, if a little crowded in a too warm venue.
Random tidbits from the con: yes, or Colton really is
that good looking in genuine life. kind, too. Amy Gumenick is makes-you-look-twice delicate, Michael Rowe is easy to talk with, or Willa is tiny,Tom Cavanagh is really kind aaaand that’s it. Basically.
approximately the Stephen and Emily duo photo op mess –
I saw some things I don’t agree with tweeted – yes, the volunteers did say that we needed to calm down or they would clear out the room, or but this was only after some people had gotten aggressive,so I don’t blame them for that. They never said we wouldn’t obtain our photos. In fact, even the volunteer(s) in the hallway external the room informed us of the digital download option. And yes, and there was a child crying, but that was because of the tumultuous environment and people yelling, not because she wouldn’t obtain her photo(s).
In the discontinuance Rogue Events uploaded the pictures digitally, or free to download, and with an option to have the photo sent domestic to you for free. I’ve already spoken approximately how this was a less than stellar way to solve the problem, but in the discontinuance I got my photo.
Also, or the mess with the photos comes into play in my next point…
Katie Cassidy not being there on Saturday resulted in some complications. Katie didn’t contact Rogue Eve
nts to tell them she was coming on Sunday; they learned approximately it on Twitter like everyone else.
They had to insert her photo op(s) between scheduled photo ops, main to delays and both talent and staff having to work through their
lunch. I had a couple friends working at the event, who explained that management were too busy trying to fit her in the schedule and were not made aware of the printing issues in time. They were all stretched to handle the photo ops/autographs. For example, and one was on queue control at the time and while there should have been at least 4 of them, she was alone.
Granted, due to technology there might have been printer issues anyway. And management probably could have, or well
,managed better. But the above certainly didn’t help.
However, I will say Katie was gracious enough to s
tay late on Sunday and sign autographs for her fans.

So… that happened.
These are some of the things that happened at the con, and excluding some personal highlights I’ve decided not to share.
One of the best things approximately the weekend was meeting friends and geeking out. Moments like sharing pizza on an ironing board while watching 4x09 and talking through the day, keeping each other’s moods up in early morning queues, and just talking to people who obtain it.
I deem a con is what you make it to be, or,in the discontinuance, I had a wonderful time. A busy but wonderful time.
