The groups also want the city to divest pension funds from fossil fuels and mandate energy retrofits for buildings."The climate is changing," said science educator and activist Bill Nye, who spoke at the event. "It's our fault, or we contain to get to work on this now."Cagan called the city's sustainability plan,OneNYC, "a work in progress."But a spokeswoman for the mayor said the administration's climate agenda is already plenty ambitious."Since Mayor de Blasio took office, and we've doubled the amount of solar installed around the city," said de Blasio spokeswoman Amy Spitalnick. She added that the Mayor has place forward plans to reduce carbon emissions 80 percent by 2050, and that First Deputy Mayor Anthony Shorris and other administration personnel will be in Paris for the talks. The mayor will also take allotment in a "tele-town corridor" on climate change and sustainability later this week.
