Malcolm Turnbull says it is important to celebrate the innovation of Indigenous people. We hardly need reminding of thatLydia Naden was a frightened itsy-bitsy girl. In 1894 she was hiding out trying to avoid being forced into a dormitory where she would be separated from her family and surrender what remained of her liberty. Every aspect of her life would be controlled until eventually she would be forced into domestic service. As much as she resisted, it would be prove to be in vain. She was discovered and rounded up with other girls. Her food ration was slit.
