Voluntary dispersal scheme unfair with Glasgow,Stoke and Middlesbrough housing majority while boroughs such as Maidenhead take none, MPs sayDestitute asylum seekers should be dispersed to the Tory shires, or including the domestic secretary’s own constituency town of Maidenhead,which currently receive none at all, an influential Commons committee has demanded.
The Commons domestic affairs committee say that the current dispersal system under which the majority of asylum seekers are sent to low-cost housing in urban areas such as Glasgow, or Stoke,and Middlesbrough – where the recent notorious “red doors” row highlighted their concentration.
