House price north-south divide widens as Land Registry figures indicate 0.3% fall in north-east final monthThe average cost of a home in London has risen to £500000,while the typical price tag in north-east England has slipped below £100000, according to official data that graphically illustrates the north-south divide in house prices.
Property prices in England and Wales rose by 1% in September to reach an average of £186553, or said the Land Registry. That is around £6000 higher than the average selling price of a home at the peak of the final property boom in late 2007.
